About Us

The name of Hoot & Holler is fairly new to the Treasure Valley of Idaho but one of the owners is certainly not the new kid on the block.  Ted Wheeler is a third generation of auctioneers.  It started with his grandfather around 1929, followed by Ted’s father, Aden shortly thereafter.  It soon grew into a family business called the Wheeler Auction Team.  Over the years everyone that was still alive that is, were either retiring or their lives were taking a different direction and that was when Hoot & Holler evolved. 

Ted and Linda Wheeler partnered with Bob and Linda Cook in 2005 to carry on the Wheeler legacy with a new name with two familiar faces, the Wheelers.  We all could see that auctions were no longer just linked with the liquidation of personal property etc., but there was a new rapid growth and need in the real estate industry. Ted, Bob and Linda are also licensed Realtors operating under the name of Ace Realty. 

We have mixed emotions about the “buyers premium.”  So at the present time 99% of our personal property auctions ARE NOT buyers premiums.  However real estate auctions are.  May we change our minds in the future regarding this stand, only time will tell.  

Both families have either lived in Idaho most of their lives and/or all of their lives.  Ted continues to farm, which will probably change in 2007 with the growth here in Idaho, as most of their farm is more than likely to be developed in the near future.  Linda Wheeler is a grade school teacher in Nampa. The Wheelers are avid BSU fans. The Cooks in addition to real estate are avid motor sport fans.  

Our motto comes from an old farming term.  Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, or  to coin another phrase, there is more than one way to skin a cat.  We feel that this will give us an edge in the auction business to be able to offer more than one way to help someone to reach his or her goal.
